The configurations break down into three main areas: Workgroups, Roles, and Users. The nice part of this is that the configuration can be done from any computer on the network, not just the font server client (although it’s easier to access from the client’s). After the server install, you switch to a Flash-enabled Web browser to configure the permissions. The Lite version is for small groups (up to 10 users), while the Pro version is for unlimited users (at a per-user cost).įor this review, I tested the Lite version and installation on the server went easily, without a hitch. If you run into trouble with this process or have additional questions please contact Extensis Technical Support. After years of waiting, Extensis has finally brought forth their new font-server product, the Universal Type Server, which comes in two versions: Lite and Professional. You can then log in to the necessary environment. This will bring you back to the Type Client login screen. If your organization has opted to do this, then you may have to force the Type Client to forget your connection in order to establish a new one to the public facing server. While this is not necessarily a recommended configuration (due to the potential security risks) the same principles that were applied to the VPN connection hold true: ports 80 will need to be open on the server to allow users to login and download fonts. This is essentially the same as how a web server would allow you to access web pages anywhere on the internet. Some companies may opt to make their Universal Type Server public facing. On-Demand: The user has access to the fonts that are active on their system before going offline.Any fonts that they have ever previewed or activated reside in a cache on the user’s computer. On-Demand Local Cache: The user has access to any fonts that they have previously used. ![]() All: The user has access to all fonts in their workgroups.Replication ModeĪdministrators of Universal Type Server 7 can choose different replication modes for their users: Once offline, you can work for up to 30 days before you need to reconnect to Universal Type Server in order to validate your seat. Depending on what your replication mode is set to (see below) you will have partial or full access to your fonts. To take Type Client offline, choose Server > Go Offline. (You can do this using a VPN connection see above.) You need to establish offline mode in Universal Type Client before you disconnect from your office network. In Universal Type Client you have the option to work offline-disconnected from the Universal Type Server-for up to 30 days. (Ports may differ if your administrator has changed them within the application.) This configuration would depend solely upon your company’s IT staff. For Universal Type Server/Type Client you will need ports 80 open. While all environments are different, the main element is to make sure that the necessary ports are accessible to the server via the VPN connection. A VPN connection enables a user to send and receive data across shared or public networks as if they were doing so from their local office environment. ![]() Virtual Private Network (VPN) is the most common of these. There are many technologies that can establish a remote connection into your local office. Universal Type Client 7 is an on-premise software: the software is designed to work while in your local office environment. This article covers Universal Type Client 7 in all supported environments on macOS and Windows. Listed are our recommendations when utilizing Universal Type Client to connect to Universal Type Server from home or a remote location. ![]() The myth of sig-tanking and Battleship-Level tank/DPSĪ frequent criticism against the old T3Cs was their ability to sig-tank while having the EHP of a Battleship. A subsystem skill at lvl 5 is about ~200k SP which translates to, at the time, between 0.5 and 2 injectors. Say we take the middle of the road here and assume you had to buy one injector to replace your lost SP, ( with injectors at the time ranging around 600 mil) this brings our total to 1.1-1.2 billion. Now, to run a combat capable T3 having all subsystem to 5 was more or less a requirement. Thd old Legion sported 208k EHP, 500DPS and brought 2 ewar slots with it in just 130 signature radius.Ī fully fit T3 ran you about 500-600 millionn at the time, more if you put deadspace hardeners on, but that’s not the whole story: T3Cs have skillpoint loss. In the small package of just 151 signature radius. It also brought an Electronic Warfare mid. The old Proteus had 223k EHP faction fit, put out 570 DPS and had a built in 57km point, or alternatively a 21km scram. Usually you supported these by putting either Guardians or Oneiroses with them on grid. ![]() While different alliances maintained slightly different fits, you generally saw these basic fits: ![]() The name itself comes from an older fleet concept, namely Zealots, which was an after-burning, armor-fit HAC. More specifically it describes the Proteus and Legion as mainline DPS ships with Loki support. “AHAC” is the term most of Panfam used to describe armor-fit, after-burning strategic cruisers. A lot of people had ideas about them and I think there are a lot of misconceptions about them as well and I will try and explain some of these away.įirst of all, for those not familiar I guess I should explain exactly what an AHAC is. Used mainly by two entities (Pandemic Legion and Northern Coalition) but generally popular (CO2 and GotG as well as most Low-sec entities maintained AHAC doctrines) they were a main-stay fleet composition for a long time. A Post-Mortem on AHAC T3Cs Tiwaz Inkura on Share TweetĮnough time has passed since the T3C change that I’ve wanted to take a second to examine the “dreaded” AHAC build of T3Cs that were one of the major fits before the change and now have all but completely disappeared after. ![]() The two pieces of copy-protection software at issue in the 2005–2007 scandal were included on over 22 million CDs marketed by Sony BMG, the record company formed by the 2004 merger of Sony and BMG's recorded music divisions. BMG and Sony both released copy-protected versions of certain releases in certain markets in late 2001, and a late 2002 report indicated that all BMG CDs sold in Europe would contain some form of copy protection. In Europe, BMG created a minor scandal in 2001 when it released Natalie Imbruglia's second album White Lilies Island without warning labels stating that the CD contained copy protection. These strategies are being aggressively pursued because there is simply too much at stake." ![]() We will firewall Napster at source – we will block it at your cable company. Heckler told attendees at the Americas Conference on Information Systems: "The industry will take whatever steps it needs to protect itself and protect its revenue streams . senior vice president Steve Heckler foreshadowed the events of late 2005. In August 2000, statements by Sony Pictures Entertainment U.S. It then released an uninstaller for one of the programs that merely made the program's files visible while also installing additional software that could not be easily removed, collected an email address from the user and introduced further security vulnerabilities.įollowing public outcry, government investigations and class-action lawsuits in 20, Sony BMG partially addressed the scandal with consumer settlements, a recall of about 10% of the affected CDs and the suspension of CD copy-protection efforts in early 2007. Sony BMG initially denied that the rootkits were harmful. Both programs contained code from several pieces of copylefted free software in an apparent infringement of copyright, and configured the operating system to hide the software's existence, leading to both programs being classified as rootkits. One of the programs would install and " phone home" with reports on the user's private listening habits, even if the user refused its end-user license agreement (EULA), while the other was not mentioned in the EULA at all. Neither program could easily be uninstalled, and they created vulnerabilities that were exploited by unrelated malware. When inserted into a computer, the CDs installed one of two pieces of software that provided a form of digital rights management (DRM) by modifying the operating system to interfere with CD copying. ![]() Screenshot of the Sony CD audio player, playing Switchfoot's fifth studio album Nothing Is Sound.Ī scandal erupted in 2005 regarding Sony BMG's implementation of copy protection measures on about 22 million CDs. ![]() It actually works really nicely, because the game will do all of the necessary player and viewport swapping for you. So, if I catch Bill, Bill takes my controller, and I take the Swtich from Bill. Whoever catches Pac Man trades controllers with the previous Pac Man. ![]() On the ghosts screen, they are decorated accordingly, but aren't decorated on Pac Man's screen, which is a bummer, but hey, it's not the end of the world. There's a free download on the eShop that's the multiplayer component, which essentially makes it like DS Download Play of yore. It's possible to play with just one, but then it is ghosts-only and no one gets to be Pac Man.Ī really big bonus in my mind is that only one person needs to own Namco Museum. You really need 2 Switches to make this work - one to be Pac Man, one to be the ghosts. The player to catch Pac Man becomes him the next round, and so on until you hit the point limit. It's multiplayer Pac Man - one player is the man, the others are the ghosts, and they try to catch him. To be fair, some options don't make sense to do that way, but I find for things like sound, it's kinda irritating.īig enough to get a section by itself. This is a drag if I want to have a certain sound equalizer for all games - I can't just say 'use this one for all games', it's each game, one at a time. My other big nit is that there's not a good way to set settings in more than one game at a time. Changing certain settings make you ineligible for online rankings, but the game makes it clear when you've done so. There's also some fun stuff, like being able to toggle the self-test screens (for the games that have it) or whether or not to run attract mode. This varies from game to game, but contains the usual things like starting lives, points needed to gain lives, game difficulty, and all those fun things. There's also a sound test for the game you're in, if you're into that sort of thing.įinally, game options. ![]() I have both music and sound effects for the menu set to 6, for reference. Since I'm on sound, IMO the default for the pause menu is waaay too high, because it is much louder than the game is by default. Sound settings provides some preset equalizer setings, as well as some reverb settings. I find that in handheld or otherwise sideways modes, the game area is borderline too small to see at times, but I understand that as a limitation of the screen. I eventually kinda gave up and set all of the graphics settings back to default for most games. Unfortunately, the backgrounds do not scale with the game window, and things can get ugly as a result. You can also configure the background image and whether or not the controls are shown onscreen. There's also an option for those sweet sweet fake scanlines. You can choose the zoom, aspect ratio, and other size settings. The display settings cover all sorts of things. To me, that reduces the value of the rotation feature. I think this is really neat and helpful for some games, but the Switch won't stand on its own like that, requiring an external prop or stand. You can actually have the game render sideways and set the Switch up portrait style. One of the really neat, but honestly kinda flawed options is screen rotation. If you have a save, you can choose to load it when you start the game, which is convenient. While workable, I'd have really liked 4 or 5 slots per game. Also available is a save system, which is pretty primitive - one save per game. Here you can do the basics like restart or choose a different game. Like I said, it's just a nit because I can adjust to me preference. Would have been better to have mapped all of the buttons to shoot by default. Also, Dig Dug only has one button mapped to shoot, which I felt was pointless when there was only one button. Most games tend to use A/B, while I think it more comfortable to use Y/B. One of my bigger nits is that the default controls feel badly chosen. You can map every single face button the way want to, and also set the analog stick deadzone. How to Play should be pretty self explanatory.Ĭontrols should be, too. There are 3 tabs - Options, Controls, and How to Play If you press R at the menu screen, or at any time in gameplay proper, you can access the game menu. ![]() But after his friend's death, he started to wonder. "I declared my own personal war on superbugs," Brenner said in a TED talk he gave in April 2017.īrenner works at a radiological research facility founded by Marie Curie, where he has long specialized in ionizing radiation, x-rays, and gamma rays-paying little attention to UVC's germicidal properties. ![]() If the studies pan out, "that could really be beneficial in disrupting disease transmission," says Shawn Gibbs, an industrial hygienist who has studied the disinfectant properties of UVC at the Indiana University School of Public Health in Bloomington.īrenner became interested in UVC's germicidal properties 5 years ago, after a friend went to the hospital for a minor surgery and became infected with drug-resistant bacteria that took his life. Unexposed samples could infect the cells, but the UVC-treated ones couldn't, the researchers reported in a preprint study published online 28 December 2017 on bioRxiv. The researchers then collected liquid samples from the chamber and spread them on dog kidney cells susceptible to the flu. The team first aerosolized influenza viruses inside a chamber and exposed them to UVC light with a wavelength of 222 nm or, as a control, to nothing. The researchers found that far UVC eliminated bacteria on surfaces and did not harm lab mice.īrenner and his co-workers next addressed whether far UVC could address a major health concern in many public settings: airborne microbes. So for the past 4 years, a group led by physicist David Brenner at Columbia University Medical Center in New York City has tested shorter wavelengths, known as "far UVC light" that can't penetrate the outer layers of the eyes or skin. ![]() The most commonly used lights have a wavelength of 254 nanometers (nm), which has a relatively short UV wavelength-the so-called "C" category-but can penetrate the skin and eyes, leading to cancers and cataracts. UV lights disinfect by disrupting the molecular bonds that hold together microbial genetic material or proteins. Now, researchers have discovered that people might be safe around a shorter wavelength of microbe-slaying UV light, theoretically turning it into a new tool that could slow the spread of disease in schools, crowded airplanes, food processing plants, and even operating rooms and labs. So UV lights only do their killing in places such as empty operating rooms and under unoccupied lab hoods. Hospitals and laboratories often use ultraviolet (UV) light to kill microbes, but the practice has one major drawback: It can harm humans. I only had one session with the 311RS for Super Lap, so I had to adjust the tire pressure mid-session before going all out on the NT05’s. But that gave me a chance to prove how quick the NT05’s really are. ![]() I was hoping to run below 2:00 even on the Conti’s. With the Continental’s, the fastest I could run was a 2:00.4. ![]() Enough of those, time to throw the NT05’s back on for Super Lap! Noticeably shaper, the NT05’s were a welcome addition to the car for the track. The overall balance of the car on track is spot on, couldn’t be happier with that.Īt this point, the car was still running the 275/35/18 spec Continental’s for the AWD Shootout. Typically a Rear sway bar is installed as one of the first mods for an Evo, but I wanted to keep the 311RS as simplified as possible. According to JRZ, the settings for the Evo X RS1’s are directly based off what we ran on my Evo X. Rotating with ease, while still being safe (read: slight understeer at the edge), it goes to show all of the development work we put into the JRZ RS1’s have paid off. With only JRZ RS1’s for suspension modifications, it’s amazing that the car performs as it does. Again, it’s very smooth and fast, but so balanced. That’s not me saying it to boast about the car, that’s just the best way for me to describe it. The track was a good test to see if it was still aggressive enough, given how well it performs on the street. On the street the car was phenomenal, very smooth and fast. We had already driven the car across the country twice at this point, so it was nice to have the opportunity to run the 311RS on a rough track in the middle of it’s development process. The pavement is inconsistent and rough in spots, plus there’s the bumps… It’s bumpy. I mainly focused on the handling feel on the car. The sub-2:00 goal was chosen for the 311RS because it was not only realistic, but also because it would put the car in rarified air – The sub-2:00 club. The goal for the car from the start was to drive to the track and run a sub-2:00 laptime on Buttonwillow CW13 configuration. We had already wrapped our shoot at Infineon, so I knew how well the car felt on track, but the AWD Shootout would be the first opportunity to time the car around the track. With the car still in it’s track development phase, it was fun to get it out to a real competition to see where the car currently stood. This was the first time anyone in the industry had a chance to see the 311RS firsthand. STi event in the past, but with my blue car.
